The joint project of the renewing Museum of Transport and Fortepan goes on – Nearly 1100 photographs are available online, free of charge
After the success of the common digitalising project last year now almost 1100 photos have been made public by Fortepan picture archive from the Archive of The Hungarian Museum of Science, Technology, and Transport – as a result of previous months’ work. A uniquely rich selection has become public, and freely accessible online: the newly published pieces offers an insight into the social dimensions of transport history, from acrobatic flying to agricultural exhibitions, from small car racing to early trams.
The selection assembled from the pieces of the collection of the Museum embraces the history of aviation, shipping, road traffic, or fixed-track transportation – including the history of the railway or the tram. Special attention was paid to delicate photographic plates; the main goal was to present the valuable pieces of the Museum’s collection.
The place of origin of the photographs is quite diverse as well. Among personal offers, the aviation historical collections excel. Several photos are available of the early history of Hungarian aviation.
